Requirements
Entrants can submit a world to the Contest by:
- Publish your worlds in Meta Horizon, making sure it's publicly accessible and ready for others to experience. Learn more here.
- Register on Devpost: From November 3, 2025 when submission opens, go to the Devpost competition page. Click on “Join hackathon”. If you don't have a Devpost account or aren’t signed in, you'll need to create one for free or log in to access the submission page.
- Submit Your World: Make sure to complete all required fields on the "Start project" page during the competition submission window and adhere to the specified requirements.
What To Build

Judging Criteria and Process
All submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria to achieve a high score:
Technical Innovation

Demonstrates advanced technical expertise, with a clear focus on leveraging mobile device capabilities (touch controls, haptics, etc.).
Visuals and Sound
- Art, UI, and audio are designed to be visually appealing and immersive on mobile screens.
- Graphics and sound enhance the experience without compromising mobile performance or accessibility.
Mobile Experience Design
- The world or game is thoughtfully crafted for mobile users, considering ergonomics, intuitive controls, and mobile-specific interactions.
- The player’s journey from onboarding to gameplay is smooth, engaging, and optimized for mobile devices.
Social Connectivity
- Offers innovative ways for people to connect, collaborate, and share moments using mobile features e.g., social sharing
- Encourages meaningful social engagement that feels natural on mobile.
Judging Process
To determine winners in the competition, we have selected a panel of judges from within Meta who are experts on Meta Horizon. There will be a pre-screen, judging phase one and a final judging panel. Information about the judging criteria and phases can be found under the section "Judging Process" in the rules section here. Each entry will be evaluated holistically, with special emphasis on how well it pushes the boundaries of mobile innovation within Horizon Worlds.

Submission Requirements
Please note that once the competition deadline has passed, do not make any modifications to your world. Worlds that are modified after the submission deadline may be disqualified.
Submissions on Devpost must include the following information:
- Name of the world
- Meta Horizon Worlds username of world publisher
- This person will be the main point of contact for the submission on Devpost. Their contact information will be shared with the payment vendor for prize-giving purposes.
- Team name
- Meta Horizon Worlds usernames and roles for each teammate (for example: John_creator – Scripting, Sarah_creator – Modelling )
- Recommended number of players required at a time for your world
- 1-2 players
- 3+ players
- Accompanying documentation that is around 200-300 words about your world (for example: your inspiration, how you built it, and future plans for improvement)
- 1x 3 mins demo of the world:
- Should not exceed 3 minutes
- Include footage that shows the experience as viewed on a Mobile device
- Must be uploaded to and made publicly visible on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook Video, or Youku, and a link to the video must be provided on the submission form on the Competition website.
- Must not include third-party trademarks, or copyrighted music or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.

Best Portrait Mode world Honors the most technically effective and user-friendly integration of portrait mode features.
Best use of tap-to-move
Given to the experience that enables interaction using one-touch movement controls.
Best potential World Broadcast Implementation
Celebrates a world that demonstrates outstanding promise and/or innovative broadcast features for sharing experiences.
NOTE: World Broadcast is currently available only for the November competition. Creators wishing to use this feature in the competition will need to provide their World ID in the submission form on or before Dec 1 at 10am PT so that Meta can enable World Broadcast on that world
Best World that Leveraged Noesis
Awarded to the world that most creatively or effectively utilized the Noesis UI technology.
Best Social Experience
Honors the world or feature that delivers the most engaging and meaningful social interactions using the social APIs.
Best Memorable NPC (Embodied and Non-Embodied) Implementation
Best Memorable NPC (Embodied and Non-Embodied) Implementation. Recognizes the most memorable and well-designed non-player character, whether physically present or virtual.
Can't Put It Down Award
Given to the world or experience that is the most addictive and keeps users coming back.
Best New User Onboarding Experience
Honors the world with the most intuitive and welcoming onboarding process for new users.
Best Coziness Themed World
Best Coziness Themed World. Awarded to worlds that create welcoming atmospheres using charming visuals and audio, and offer meaningful progression with positive challenges.
Best Clothing creations
Best clothing creations that enhances a world experience or play
Best winter/holiday themed addition to a newly built world
World that features a creative winter or holiday-themed area, feature, or experience as part of a larger environment. Please note: the entire world should not be solely dedicated to a seasonal theme- the seasonal element should be a distinct addition within a broader, more diverse world.
Judges Choice Award
Judges discretion. Doesn’t fit into any of the other categories but demonstrate potential, uniqueness, and innovation beyond what is considered normal. This award is given to entrants who have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in Meta Horizon worlds and have created something truly unique and innovative.
Creator Community Favorite
Most voted by the Creator Community. This is the only category where a world can win even if they have won in another category.
