What should I build for this competition?

You need to design and build a new, innovative world for Meta Horizon that works seamlessly on mobile. Your challenge is to build an innovative world, game, or interactive experience that fully harnesses the unique capabilities of Meta Horizon on mobile devices. Consider leveraging mobile-first features, inventing new interactions, and pushing creative boundaries.

Are there specific technical requirements for my world?

Yes, your world must:

  • Be ORIGINAL to each Entrant (or include public domain/Meta-provided content).
  • Be made for consumption in Meta Horizon Worlds using the desktop editor tool. We encourage creators to leverage at least one GenAI feature.
  • Only use Meta Horizon Worlds tools available to the public and/or MHCP members.
  • Be newly published during the competition and not previously entered elsewhere.
  • Be mobile-only or compatible with both mobile and VR devices (VR-only worlds are not eligible).
  • Follow Meta Horizon Content Guidelines (10+, 13+, and 18+).
  • Include content that is interactive for mobile players.
  • If using third-party tools/assets, ensure proper authorization/licensing.
  • Comply with all relevant MHCP/Meta policies and terms.
  • Not include malware, spyware, viruses, or harmful/inappropriate content.

Is there design guidance for building on mobile?

Yes, you can find best practices and guidance in the "Design Guidance" section on the competition website: https://mhcp-mobile-innovation.devpost.com/details/design-guidance.

Should I submit my entry for compatibility testing?

No, compatibility testing is no longer conducted by Meta. It is recommended that entrants test their worlds on mobile devices themselves to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Should we build for mobile only, or consider the VR experience too?

You can submit your worlds as either mobile-only or worlds that work across both mobile and VR devices. However, a VR-only world will not meet the judging eligibility criteria for this competition.

Winners will be determined by a panel of expert judges from within Meta. The process includes a pre-screen, judging phase one, and a final judging panel. Submissions will be evaluated based on Technical Innovation, Visuals and Sound, Mobile Experience Design, and Social Connectivity. More details about the judging criteria and phases can be found in the rules section.
